Whatever the documents are, it is important to stop seeing them as useless. They have values more than you are thinking.
They can be needed at anytime.
Most of us have the attitude of valuing them when they are New. Like your birth certificate, wedding certificate, school certificate, house receipt or C of O, vehicle papers, property receipts, agreement documents, travelling documents and many others. But after a while we threw them away until when we probably need them.
Whatever the document is, it is necessary you keep it well. Don't be in the habit of rough handling it. The other day a woman came to do photocopy in our office. The documents were all badly damaged. Stained, torn and worn out! We didn't know how to salvage the situation and bring them back to life again. And they are very valuable.
Some people also are of the habit of not knowing exactly where they keep some of their valuable documents. Failure to locate the whereabouts can be very frustrating...and often lead to swearing of an affidavit in court.
Treat and cherish your documents all of the time. Let it not become a controversial issue like the school certificate saga of President Bola Amhed Tinubu.
The only reason (if at all) you want to discard a document, it should be that it is totally not needed or events have overtaken it and it's dead and buried. Once it can still be referred to or needed 'tomorrow', please kindly keep them safe and secure.
